A Certified Physician Assistant, Angela Ballard, became a member of the Schoolhouse Pediatrics team in May 2019.  Originally from the southern suburbs of Houston, Angela received her undergraduate degree in Medical Humanities from Baylor University. She then graduated with honors from Baylor College of Medicine where she earned a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies. Angela received the award for top research project in her class studying immunologic disease in post-surgical, pediatric congenital heart disease patients.
 
Prior to moving to Austin and joining Schoolhouse Pediatrics, Angela provided medical care to the underserved women and children of the Houston area at a Pediatric and OB/GYN hybrid practice with the University of Texas Medical Branch system in Pearland. There she was able to monitor mothers throughout their pregnancies and take care of their infants after birth in addition to seeing other pediatric patients of all ages within the practice. Her passion for working with children and preventive medicine have driven her focus to outpatient pediatrics.
 
When Angela’s not working, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, cooking, traveling and exploring the Austin area. She and her husband have two silly cats, Blue and Koko.
